Day 22 Tuesday sept 12

Praises:
Today was one of Carl's best day , he is eating, walking a lot, pain is 7/10- he aches all over from being in bed and the " Vac" suction -but can tolerate it with changing his position often.
We both had company and enjoyed some fellowship.
We have gotten into a routine and it feels some what ok.
Ostomy con't to work!
We remain hopeful and feel peace, Carl is scared and concerned- which I totally understand, so we will need to hold him up with our prayers and love.
Tomorrow- Wednesday Carl is set up for surgery, he is an " add on"" so will be after 6 pm.(4-5 hours long).
Please pray for Carl , the medical team and family. May this new surgery work, may the pain be controlled, no infection or complications. Please Lord heal him, that no more procedures will be needed.  He will need to be in bed for 3 days , then be up with assist. If all goes perfect we could be home in 5-7 days from tomorrow!

    AMEN! I know with spiritual confidence that God has this! Continual prayers over Carl! Prayers for you Jody! Prayers for your kids. Definitely claiming Isaiah 41:10! I am eager to hear how God works today and the week ahead!

    Jody - I find myself anxious to check out your BLOG each day to see how God carried you through and what He has done in your lives. Thank you for your continued testimonies of God and His love. And praising God right along side you with each step forward. (And hurt with you when its backwards or just not "fast enough.") Continuing to pray with all.

    It's just after 9 pm Wednesday and I'm assuming Carl is still in surgery. What a long surgery and what an ordeal again. Praying for Jody and kids as you wait with high hopes through such a long procedure. Praying so much for complete success this time, for good pain control, no complications (you've had way too many of those!) and for you and your family's spirits to be uplifted. I'm eagerly awaiting your update tomorrow and trusting that God will give Carl a good post-op night tonight. Hugs!! Patti Philippus (sorry - still don't know how to sign in correctly). Home for a month, 6 weeks since last surgery

We received news yesterday that Carl's cancer was more invasive than they first suspected. The pathology on his tumor that was removed was positive for perineural invasion(PIN) meaning that it was involved in the nerves around the tumor. This MIGHT worsen his prognosis as the 5 year survival rate is only 25%, meaning only 1 out every 4 people with this kind of cancer are alive in 5 years. This is hard news to hear but Carl is young and strong and we pray that he is in the 25%. We know that God still performs miracles and we need to continue to faithfully and boldly pray for Carl and Jody and thank Him for the many blessings that our family has, and will continue to have over the next few years. None  of us knows the future but we know Who holds our future in His hands. Carl will get Cat Scans in February and next Dr appointment in March 2018. Home for 10 days

It is good to be home, we have enjoyed the quite, beauty of fall and comfort of being in our own home. Praises: Carl is eating better each day, walking around the house and yard, abdominal wound is slowly healing and no infection, home health nurse and PT have been very helpful and supportive. We enjoyed celebrating birthdays and time with family these past 10 days. Friends and family have been generous with time and supporting us. Carl does not have pain, he is cutting back on the morphine slowly, in the next week he should be off this with out feeling sick. Colostomy is working, it is a process for Carl to adjust to this new body image. Jody was able to go to a planned retreat for 2 1/2 days, the theme was " The name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous run to it and are safe". Proverbs 18:10. Day 11 post surgery

We are thankful Carl had a good night and day so far. He is getting out of bed with one assist. No nausea & taking more liquids, he will try some ensure by mouth. The Dr talked with him about starting TPN(total parenteral nutrition)today, he is scared to get a PIIC line. In all fairness I get it as every thing he has done so far has not gone as expected. Please pray that he can tolerate oral diet. If he can't that he will be willing to take TPN that would support healing. We appreciate your prayers for : Healing, no infection,Carl and family can process what needs to be done,for wisdom for medical team. Thankful- no nausea, getting stronger, we are sleeping and getting rest.Good medical team.
