Day 17 -post 1st surgery - Thursday sept 7
Praise - the ostomy is passing stool, so we will cont to "wait and see" if more surgery needed for bowel.
Praise the vac has stayed in place and not causing any problems. It allows him to rest in any position for his comfort. They will change this Friday in surgery in case the pain is bad and then they can give some sedation.
Praise - Carl has been walking 300- 400 feet with stand by assist of one. If he didn't have all the IV 's , wound drain and urine bag he could get up alone.
I usually pray with him and yesterday he was able to pray out loud with me.
Pain is controlled.
Please praise for clarity and wisdom in planning when to do next "flap" surgery.
If the vac dressing doesn't promote some signs of healing he needs to have muscle and blood supply taken from both legs and skin graft to cover this. The Dr feels this will have to happen and isn't feeling to confident the vac dressing will do anything, The vac has been nice because all drainage goes into suction container and we don't have to constantly change his bedding.

The challenges seem endless--praying that the vac dressing will work- that today turns so that you receive all good news, healing and progress! PTL that the bowel is working---and that you can "wait and see". Praying for your hope--for courage--for strength and that you will not be afraid--God is still and will always be in control. God bless you both today- and May God grant you an uneventful day!
ReplyDeleteThankful for more "praise" items than yesterday! Will be praying for clarity & wisdom for the medical staff as they have decisions to make re: further surgery. So blessed by your faithful trust & your testimony every day you write. Praying for healing for Carl & for him to be filled with hope, too.
ReplyDeleteIsaiah 46:4b "I am He who will sustain you; I have made you, and I will carry you." God bless!
Praying with and for you tonight. May the peace that surpasses all underderstanding guard your hearts and thoughts during these days of ongoing challenges. Praying for comfort and a restful night sleep.
ReplyDeleteThankful for any good news the Lord has his arms around all of you
