Day 16
We are struggling to understand why it seems that Carl cannot catch a break. Last night after surgery he struggled to urinate which lead to them needing to put in a foley to collect urine. This morning Carl had a barium enema to decompress his bowels as they were not functioning properly. Prior to this a tube was placed into the stoma to instill contrast for the barium enema. During the barium enema they got an xray that showed that Carl has severe narrowing above his stoma. Somehow the tube that was in the stoma was removed during this study. Due to the narrowing the tube needed to be replaced to prevent complete obstruction of the bowel. Unfortunately this proved to be quite challenging and painful. They were not able to get it back in and Carl has not had any output from his ostomy today. His vac dressing (the special dressing on his bottom where the flap used to be) is intact and draining which is what it is supposed to do. Pain is increased again and is a 7/10 while at rest.
Please pray. Pray for comfort. Pray for no more complications, there has been enough. Please pray for the wound vac to work. Please pray for the narrowing to resolve, for the bowels to work, and for the ostomy to begin draining. Please pray for Carl's spirits and for the rest of the family, it is hard not to feel defeated. Thank you for all of your prayers and support, we truly could not do this without you.

So sorry to hear all this! I pray things just start getting better for him! #godspeed Carl!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry this is such a low day filled with so many struggles. Ugh....if we're frustrated I can't imagine how you all must be feeling. Just know we're all still here and we're still on our knees lifting you all in prayer, but especially Carl.
ReplyDelete"The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace." Num 6:24-26
Please Dear Father bring healing to Carl. please bring him relief from pain ... please give the Doctors wisdom .... please keep your arms around the whole family protect them from getting discouraged give them hope and understanding in your Name Dear Father.....
ReplyDeleteAmen
Praying for all of you. May healing rest and God's peace envelope you tonight.
ReplyDeleteThank you Abi for the update--my heart is broken with all this news--I pray continuously for Carl to feel God's hope in spite of all of these horrible complications--so difficult to feel like there is a time when he will feel like Carl again. Praying for Carl, Jody and all of the Lamars--to not feel discouraged- and to feel God's Peace and Hope. For Carl we continue to pray for healing--and less pain. It is horrible to take steps backward...so we are praying for no more complications..and God to bless him with miraculous healing.
ReplyDeleteAll these complications are just unbelievable. Carl is prayed for so often and so specifically that I just wonder, Lord, come on! How much more? Praying for Carl's spirits to feel uplifted and for physical pain and complications to STOP!! Also praying for all of your family as it's got to be taking such a toll, wearing everybody down. "Do not fear for I am with you, do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." (Is. 41:10) We are claiming this for Carl and Jody all the whole family through this unbelievably challenging time! (Patti Philippus)
ReplyDeletePraying for pain relief and healing.
